Description

This genus consists of about 200 species of annuals, perennials and semi- evergreen and evergreen shrubs and subshrubs. They produce upright spikes of showy pea-flowers in a range of colours including blue, purple, pink, white, yellow, orange and red. They are fully to frost hardy, and will prefer sun with well drained, alkaline soil.
