Description

This species is a dense ornamental conifer with a flattened to globose habit. The 'balsam' in the conifer's name is the clear thin resin in its bark, which was once commercially important. It is a rather short-lived spindly tree.

This variety is a slow growing, evergreen conifer which has a round, dwarf, compact habit. The leaves are grey-green, linear and needle-like.
